Six climate protesters run onto 18th green and spray powder, delaying finish of PGA Tour event

During the final hole of regulation at the PGA Tour’s Travelers Championship on Sunday, six climate protesters disrupted the game by storming the 18th green. They created a delay of approximately five minutes by spraying smoke and powder, leaving white and red residue on the putting surface. The protest was marked by the protesters wearing white T-shirts with the words “NO GOLF ON A DEAD PLANET” printed in black on the front. The unexpected interruption caused fear among the players, with Akshay Bhatia expressing concern for his safety. However, the Cromwell Police Department swiftly intervened, ensuring the safety of everyone involved. The PGA Tour expressed gratitude to the police for their quick response and confirmed that there was no damage to the green that affected the outcome of the game.
Scheffler, who was apprehended during a routine traffic stop at the PGA Championship, also commended the officers involved.

“In my perspective, they handled the situation swiftly and efficiently, and for that, we are extremely grateful,” expressed Scheffler, the top-ranked player in the world. He triumphed over Kim in a sudden-death playoff on the first hole, securing his sixth victory of the year.
